Now, Fee Reimbursement For BCs Pursuing Higher Education Outside Telangana Too
The State government has decided to extend the fee reimbursement scheme even to BC students pursuing degrees in prestigious institutions across the country.
Minister for BC Welfare Gangula Kamalakar today announced that the State government had decided to extend the fee reimbursement scheme even to BC students of the State who were pursuing degrees in prestigious educational institutions across the country outside the State.
The minister said that the State government would pay the full fees of BC students who got admissions in noted educational institutions located across the country, and directed the BC Welfare Chief Secretary Burra Venkatesham to implement the fee reimbursement scheme from this academic year.
This facility was till now available only to SC and ST students. From this academic year onwards, it has been extended to BC students too.
About 10,000 BC students from Telangana will benefit from this. The State government had decided to allocate Rs 150 crore for this, Kamalakar said.
He added that scholarships for overseas studies were already being offered to BC students studying internationally in the US, UK, Australia and other countries, and that Telangana was thus the only State in India to pay full fees to BC students at the State, national and international levels.
