Demanding that the State government conduct a joint session of the legislature on the farmers' suicides' issue, former minister and Congress leader D K Aruna declared that the Congress would not allow the government to run the Assembly till it waived off the crop loans fully.
She also urged the Governor not to give permission for a joint session of the legislature for a presentation by the government on "Jala Vidhanam" (water policy).
Speaking to the media on Saturday, Aruna asked the government to come forward with a presentation on the farmers' suicides instead.
"The Opposition Parties are ready to make a presentation in case the government is not ready to make one. We will explain how the farmers committed suicides," she said.
Aruna expressed hope that after watching the Opposotion's presentation, Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao's mind would change and that he would waive off the farmers' loans in one go.
She alleged that though 10 to 12 farmers were committing suicides everyday, the government was not bothered enough to take steps to help.
She urged the Governor to take up a "Polam Bata" to see the problems being faced by the farmers, and to give a suitable direction to the government on the farmers' problems.
