Telangana Congress senior leader Gandra Venkataramana Reddy today alleged that the suicides of the distressed farmers were effectively cold-blooded murders by the State government.
Speaking to the media on Saturday, Reddy claimed that K Chandrashekar Rao became the Chief Minister of the State primarily because of his promise to the farmers of the State to waive off crop loans during his electioneering in 2014, and that he was practically reneging on his promise with the pussyfooting.
He said the State government waiving off all remaining crop loans in one go was the solution to stop the farmers' suicides.
He added that the Congress had not only conceded a separate Telangana State, but had also given it a Rs 16,500-crore surplus right as it took birth, and that it was all being squandered by the KCR government.
Reddy also suggested that the government announce a list of drought-hit mandals immediately.
