BJP national president J P Nadda today said the upcoming Assembly elections in Telangana were a contest primarily between the BJP and family-based parties.
He said that like in other States, the BJP was fighting against family rule in Telangana as well.
Speaking at the BJP's Sakala Janula Vijaya Sankalpa Sabha public meeting at Narayanpet, Nadda said that while Prime Minister Narendra Modi was sanctioning funds for the development of Telangana, KCR's family was misusing them and not allowing them to reach the people of the State.
He cited as an example of that that when the union government had reduced VAT on petrol and diesel, KCR had not allowed the people to enjoy that benefit. He said that as a result Telangana had the highest inflation in the country.
"In addition, during the 10-year rule of KCR, neither were free double bedroom houses given as promised to the people by the State government, nor were funds released under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana allowed to reach the poor instead. In general, the fruits of the statehood movement did not reach the people," he said.
He also called the BRS leaders "demons of corruption", and said that the Kaleshwaram lift irrigation project had become an ATM for CM K Chandarshekar Rao.
"One of the bridges in the project, built at a cost of Rs 1.20 lakh crore, collapsed recently. There was also a Rs 4,000-crore land scam in Miyapur. The MLAs took a commission of 30% of that amount by giving Dalit Bandhu funds to some people. As soon as the BJP comes to power, KCR will be investigated for corruption," he said.
Nadda also alleged that the Urdu language was being given importance in Telangana for the sake of votes.
The BJP president also asked the people not to trust the Congress, which was touting six guarantees that it could not possibly deliver on, either.
"The next elections will determine the future of Telangana. You should show the corrupt BRS government and the family-run Congress the door on the 30th of this month by voting for the BJP," he said.
