Senior Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi Vadra today addressed a public meeting in the Khanapur Assembly constituency of Adilabad district.
Speaking on the occasion, she said that the aspirations of the people of Telangana had not been fulfilled even after the formation of a separate State.
"Sonia Gandhi gave Telangana as per the aspirations of the people here for self-rule. However, their aspirations have not been fulfilled by the BRS," she said, and criticised both the BRS and the BJP for the last ten years of "misrule".
Speaking specifically of unemployment, she claimed that there were 40 lakh unemployed youth in the State, but it was KCR's family members who got jobs. And when there were finally notifications issued for government jobs, there were paper leaks that indefinitely delayed the process.
"That's why we have promised that if the Congress comes to power, we will make appointments as per a job calendar. And the statehood activists dreamt that their lives would change in a separate State, but that did not happen - in a Congress government, one member of the family of each of the activists will be given a job," she said.
Gandhi also said that there had been looting in the name of the Kaleswaram project and the Mission Bhagiratha scheme in the State, but instead of focusing on that corruption, the Government of India was instigating the investigating agencies to raid the houses of Congress leaders.
"They are doing so because the BJP and the BRS are one and the same. In Parliament the BRS MPs voted in favour of several bills introduced by the Centre. And AIMIM leader Asaduddin Owaisi is supporting KCR in the State and the BJP at the Centre. These three parties are the same," she said.
She also said that the women of the State were suffering a lot, and so the Congress had included several points in its manifesto to alleviate their difficulty.
"We have decided to deposit Rs 2,500 in the bank accounts of women every month," she said. She also reiterated that the six guarantees of her party, including a gas cylinder at Rs 500, free transport for women in TSRTC buses, free electricity of up to 200 units per month, Indiramma houses, Rs 15,000 per acre as Rythu Bandhu benefit, Rs 10 lakh health insurance cover and support price for crops, would be implemented quickly if it came to power.
