Chief Minister Revanth Reddy today said that the Congress would win 100 MLA and 15 MP seats in the next general elections in Telangana.
He made this assertion while addressing a massive gathering of party workers at the Samajika Nyaya Samarabheri Sabha held at L B Stadium in Hyderabad.
Speaking on the occasion, he said, "We broke the Kalvakuntla family's gates and hoisted the tricolour, showing the BRS leaders that they had no choice but to retreat in Telangana. That is when we began true public governance. Many said that our government would last only three years, and claimed we wouldn't implement welfare schemes or stay united. But we stood firm in the face of mockery. We implemented welfare programs and made Telangana a model for the nation. Let's continue to make the Telangana model one that the entire country can follow."
Reddy said that his government had completed the caste census and addressed long-standing issues faced by the BC community. And despite economic challenges the administration had continued to implement welfare initiatives, he added.
"In the past 18 months, we have rolled out Rythu Bharosa, offered bonuses to small farmers, distributed premium quality rice to the poor, and launched the farm loan waiver scheme. The credit for disbursing Rs 9,000 crore in farmer assistance within just 9 days goes to our government," he said.
Taking a swipe at the previous government, he said, "While former CM KCR discouraged paddy cultivation, our government offered Rs 500 per quintal to every farmer who grew paddy. Telangana became the top rice-producing State in the country."
"I am throwing an open challenge - whether it is Prime Minister Modi, Union Minister Kishan Reddy or former CM KCR - I'm ready to debate anyone in the Assembly on who truly served the farmers," he added.
He also criticised those opposing the naming of the Rs 5 meal scheme after Indiramma, saying, "Some fools are criticising us. Indiramma symbolises the welfare of the poor. Under her name, we empowered women to lease RTC buses and earn profits, and encouraged women's groups to run petrol bunks. We ensured that women became financially stable and lived with dignity. Our government is moving ahead with the goal of making one crore women millionaires. I call upon women - join self-help groups, become financially independent."
Speaking about other "achievements" of his government, he said, "In the very first year of our government, we filled 60,000 government job vacancies. Kishan Reddy is challenging me on this count - I'm ready to apologise if the number falls short. Our government also brought in Rs 3 lakh crore worth of investments to the State in the last 18 months. It is also establishing Young India Integrated Residential Schools in 100 Assembly constituencies with a budget of Rs 20,000 crore. We have drawn up plans to raise our education standards to international levels. We have also established the Young India Skills University to train the youth, and are setting up a Young India Sports University with an eye on the upcoming Olympics. Our aim is to train athletes who will win gold medals in the 2030 Olympics."
