The All-India Small Scale Industries Minorities Committee (AISSIMC) has decided that it will soon open and operate a spice manufacturing unit near Damaragidda, in Narayanapet district.
The unit will be started to provide employment opportunities to the youth and women in the region.
In a press release, AISSIMC President S Z Sayeed stated that the body had decided to start a spice manufacturing unit as spices were in high demand in all parts of the country.
"The unit will be run under the direct supervision of the AISSIMC. It will provide direct and indirect employment to over 200 persons. We want to encourage the youth to follow a "khud kamao, khud khao" (roughly, "earn your own keep") approach to life, and to help them find secure and respectable employment avenues to do so. We believe that a single industrial unit is better than one hundred langars as the former provides a source of permanent income to many and helps them in a more lasting way," the release said.
Preparations for the setting up of the unit have reportedly already begun.
Elaborating on the body's future plans, Sayeed added, "The objective of our work through this committee is to extend a helping hand to the youth who find it difficult to open and run businesses of their own, or to find good, stable jobs. To achieve this, in the next phase of our plan to generate employment, we will set up units manufacturing pickle, papad, blouse hooks, paper plates, cups and bags, and jute bags."
The AISSIMC often also organises job melas to help the unemployed youth find jobs.
In fact, it had organised a recruitment fair in collaboration with Francophile French, an IT consultant company, in Khairatabad, on February 7
