Telangana Political Joint Action Committee (TPJAC) Convenor Kodandaram on Tuesday stated that the separate statehood agitation will be intensified across all the 10 Telangana districts from April 20th. Public meetings will be organized amongst the people of Telangana to create awareness about the 8th chapter of the Justice Srikrishna Committee Report, he said.
Talking to mediapersons after convening a meeting with the District Joint Action Committee members at the JAC office to chalk out the future course of the Telangana agitation, Prof. Kodandaram said that the activists will create awareness about the controversial 8th chapter, which suggests that a separate Telangana, if formed, would be rocked by communal violence and be infested with Maoists.
The TPJAC Convenor said that awareness camps will be conducted in all the districts of AP from April 11th. The camps aim at making people aware of the Srikrishna Committee members' "conspiracy to water down the Telangana agitation".
Prof. Kodandaram said that the agitation was aimed to mount pressure on the Centre to introduce the Telangana bill in Parliament. The agitation will also target ministers and MLAs hailing from the Telangana region.
He also denied that there is a lull in the Telangana agitation on account of the elections to 5 state Assemblies, and said that the separate statehood demand is still on.
"In fact, this is the time to intensify the agitation for the formation a separate state," Prof. Kodandaram stated.
The TPJAC Convenor also said that the pro-Telangana parties have not changed their stand vis-a-vis former Kadapa MP Y S Jaganmohan Reddy.
"Jaganmohan Reddy hails from the Seemandhra regions, and is known to favour an integrated Andhra Pradesh," he said.
"If the TPJAC constituents an ally with Jaganmohan Reddy, it would be detrimental to the separate statehood cause," Prof. Kodandaram opined. (INN)
