Telangana TDP president L Ramana today warned the State government that his Party's activists would lay siege to the GHMC office if the road repair works were not started immediately.
Speaking to the media, Ramana said that the condition of the city's roads and infrastructure was pathetic and that the authorities were not taking any initiatives to repair them. The GHMC should start repairing the roads immediately, he urged.
The TDP leader also alleged that Urban Development Minister K T Rama Rao had failed to keep up his promise of repairing all the damaged roads in the city within the first 100 days of coming to power. The TRS had promised that it would develop Hyderabad on par with cities like Shanghai, but forgot about the promise soon after winning the GHMC polls, he said.
"Hyderabad went from being a city of pearls to a city of potholes in no time. Apart from the people's support for the TRS, foreign tourism will also take a beating by the end of this year if the government doesn't find a quick fix," Ramana said.
"The Chief Minister is functioning from his farmhouse. And KTR asks people to bring their problems to his notice via WhatsApp and Facebook, but none of the road-related complaints registered has been worked upon," he alleged.
TDP politburo member Ravula Chandrasekhar Reddy also weighed in and lamented that due to the degrading conditions of the roads it took the average commuter hours to travel even modest distances.
Quoting a TV channel report, he said that there were 3,600 potholes between Jubilee Hills crossroads and Peddammagudi crossroads alone.
