The Nagole flyover, part of the projects under the GHMC's Strategic Road Development Program (SRDP) to provide signal-free routes to the citizens, will be inaugurated on October 26 by Telangana MA & UD minister K T Rama Rao.
The total cost of the flyover is Rs 143.58 crore including utility shifting and land acquisition. The length of the bridge is 990 meters, and it has six lanes, bi-directional.
The flyover will allow free-signal and low-pollution passage to commuters from Uppal to L B Nagar. It will also benefit commuters travelling to the Rajiv Gandhi International Airport and Aramghar from some areas.
This is the 16th flyover to be completed under the SRDP. Of the 47 works under the SRDP, the GHMC has taken up 41, and another six have been taken up by the HMDA, the R&B department and others. 31 of the 47 have been completed so far, and the remaining 16 are at different stages of completion. Of the 31 completed works, 15 are flyovers, five are underpasses, seven are RUBs/ROBs, one is a cable bridge, one is a steel bridge at Panjagutta, one is a road-widening bridge at Panjagutta, and one is an ORR to Medak rehabilitation work.
Two other flyovers - the Kothaguda flyover and the Shilpa Layout flyover - are also nearing completion. These flyovers will be brought into use for the public soon, as the works are scheduled to be completed by the end of November. Efforts are being made to launch these flyovers by the first week of December. With the completion of these two flyovers, a total of 18 flyovers would have been completed under the SRDP.
