Telangana Municipal Administration Minister K T Rama Rao today reprimanded the GHMC officials for the shabby state of the city's roads after the heavy rains, and directed them to start repairing the roads and other crumbling infrastructure immediately.
Interacting with the media on Sunday, the minister said that the civic staff would plunge into work immediately.
"We have been receiving too many complaints from the people, and have been apprised by the traffic department about the numerous accidents that take place due to these the conditions of the roads. Traffic is getting clogged everyday in several parts of the twin cities due to the bad state of the roads. The municipality will take up and complete the repair works under the close monitoring of my ministry, and resolve all the issues that have been pointed out to us," the minister said.
His also expressed his disappointment over the effect of the Ganesh immersion on the city's infrastructure, and said that celebrations should be carried out responsibly, without causing discomfort and harm to the public.
"Just as the government solves a bunch of problems, other new problems crop up. We will take a holistic approach to resolve all infrastructure issues," Rao said.
