The 30th Mahanadu of the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) was launched in Gandipet on Friday morning, without any protests marring the ceremony.
TDP President N Chandrababu Naidu ceremonially started the program by lighting a lamp and garlanding a bust of the party founder, N T Rama Rao. And cultural events followed.
Naidu then addressed those gathered, and his speech revolved around the alleged inefficiency of the Congress party. He charged that the regime of the ruling party was full of corruption, and that "all the glory that the state had achieved during TDP's rule had vaporized after the Congress took charge."
He challenged YSR Congress Party President and Kadapa MP Y S Jaganmohan Reddy to approach the Governor and move a no-confidence motion against the Congress if the latter was confident that he could topple the government. He stated that the TDP would vote against the Congress if a no-confidence motion was initiated.
The TDP President also touched upon public issues and the plight of the farmers in the state.
Around 15,000 party representatives from across the state are expected to participate in the 3-day event.
