The activities of the Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) failed to discourage the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) from attempting to hold their proposed Telangana Ranabheri.
TDP leaders on Wednesday evening set out for Karimnagar in a massive convoy that included 90-100 vehicles, and were halted by TRS employees at Ibrahim Nagar, Medak.
Staging a dharna on the main road, the TRS members refused to budge.
When the police intervened and tried to forcibly clear the dharna, the protestors turned violent and attacked the convoy with stones and sticks.
A number of TDP leaders transferred themselves to the safety of Devender Goud's bullet-proof car, and among them was a gun-wielding Revanth Reddy.
While the members of the TDP were thus occupied, TRS elements reportedly set a TDP office ablaze, and the police soon rushed to the burning building and put out the flames.
The TDP convoy, according to sources, is currently debating whether or not to go ahead with the Ranabheri under such circumstances.
