Telangana Finance Minister T Harish Rao, who attended various development programs in Sangareddy district today, also met the district's officials and the administrations of several schools at a high-level meeting, to review the process of the reopening of the schools in the area.
"Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao has already asked us to ensure that the schools of the state be reopened, after nearly ten months of being shut, by February 1. While we must adhere to his instructions, we must also take care to implement all the required Covid-19 safety protocols. For this, we need to make sure that the premises of the schools are kept clean, and that the schools' facilities, including the drinking water supply, power supply and sanitation systems, are up to scratch. We also need to stock the schools' kitchens with fine rice for the mid-may scheme," he said.
"The schools' managements and the concerned district officials must work together to clean and sanitise the school buildings completely before February 1. This has to be done in the next four to five days. For this, find workers through the National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme," Rao added.
Addressing the administrations of the district's schools, he instructed them to regularly check the temperature of their students, teachers and other staff, and to implement strict social distancing and mask-wearing rules on school premises in order to prevent the spread of Covid-19.
The minister also appealed to the parents of the school-going children to send their children to school without any fear from next month, and assured them that every measure would be taken to safeguard their wards from Covid-19.
The Telangana government recently announced that it would be
reopening the schools in the state for classes 9 and 10, and for intermediate and degree students from February. It has, since, left no stone unturned to ensure that the reopening be done in strict adherence to the required Covid-19 safety guidelines, and has convened
a number of meetings to ensure the same.
