As the date for the reopening of the schools and colleges in Telangana inches closer, the state's ministers today a held a critical meeting on the matter.
At the meeting, which was chaired by Education Minister Sabitha Indra Reddy, the relevant officials were instructed to prepare for the reopening of the state's educational institutions while keeping in mind the Covid-19 guidelines.
"As Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao has already sanctioned the reopening of the educational institutions by February, we must all work towards the preparations for the recommencement of on-site classes. Take up all the necessary repair and renovation works of the schools, colleges and hostels. Take steps to ensure that the managements of the institutions, whether government or private, make provisions for the implementation of the Covid-19 safety guidelines. The district Collectors must also treat the matter as a priority. Involve the parents of the students in the process as well," the ministers said.
The ministers also took stock of the steps that had already been taken for the state-wide reopening of the educational institutions.
Ministers Sathyavathi Rathod, Ganguala Kamalakar and Kopula Eshwar, and Chief Secretary Somesh Kumar were among those who participated in the meeting.
Today's meeting will reportedly be followed by another meeting with the managements of the state's private educational institutions on January 19.
The TRS government has been actively involved in making preparations for the reopening. Education Minister Sabitha Indra Reddy even convened an initial
review meeting regarding the reopening, on January 12.
