BRS president and Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao has nominated former minister Vakiti Sunitha Laxma Reddy as the party's candidate for the Narsapur Assembly constituency seat in the upcoming Assembly elections.
The CM handed over the party's B-Form to Reddy in the presence of current Narsapur MLA Madan Reddy and Minister Harish Rao at Pragathi Bhavan today.
On the occasion, the Chief Minister said that Madan Reddy would contest for the Medak seat in the next Lok Sabha elections, replacing Kotha Prabhakar Reddy, who is now contesting as the BRS candidate for the Dubbaka Assembly constituency seat.
"Madan Reddy has been a senior leader in the BRS since the beginning. He is very dear to me as a leader who has been in close contact with me since 35 years. He is like my right arm and I always treat him as a brother. I am thankful to him for respecting the decision of the party and extending support to Sunitha Laxma Reddy. I am also delighted at Sunita Laxma Reddy being our candidate for the Narsapur constituency," KCR said.
Sunitha Laxma Reddy was formerly in the Congress. She was elected as the MLA for Narsapur thrice, and also worked as a minister in the Y S Rajasekhar Reddy, Rosaiah and Kiran Kumar Reddy governments in the erstwhile united Andhra Pradesh. She joined the BRS in 2019 and worked as chairperson and member of the Women's Commission in the Telangana government.
