TPCC Senior Vice President Mallu Ravi today said that the students living in the residential hostels in the State were experiencing hell in the hostels.
He said that the condition of the students had become unbearable due to the poor infrastructure of the hostels.
He alleged that the food in and the surroundings of the hostels were in very poor condition, and that the status of the hostels was a classic example to highlight the plight of the education sector of the State.
Ravi said that several hostels in the State, including those in the Basara IIIT, had witnessed incidents of food poisoning in the last 15 days, and that the food poisoning incidents were even turning fatal for some students.
He also said that rodent-like rats were biting the students in the hostels.
The hostels, which are supposed to produce the future intellectuals of the country, were instead endangering the lives of the students, he said.
He demanded that the State government take immediate steps to reform all the hostels in the State, and warned that the Congress would hold agitations if the government did not respond to its demand.
