The TRS government in its endeavour to ease the traffic congestion in the city has formulated a massive plan to construct flyovers, skyways and elevated corridors with a total outlay of Rs. 19,222 crores to be spent in four phases.

This was disclosed by Minister for Municipal Administration K T Rama Rao while replying to a question in the Telangana Assembly on Monday.

The four skyways to be taken up forthwith would have connectivity with the national highways, he said.

The government had also decided to spend Rs. 8,000 crores for the laying of new roads, widening of existing roads and construction of 18 news junctions, he added.

KTR also stated that the government would also take the necessary steps immediately to add connectivity to Tolichowki for the P V Narasimha Rao Expressway.

The government would also take up road-widening works in the Old City on a war footing, he said. The metro rail project also being speeded up, he said, and explained that the concomitant traffic bottlenecks and repair works were delaying the completion of the project.

MIM Floor leader Akbaruddin Owaisi said that the people living in the GHMC limits had given a massive mandate to the TRS and also the MIM to take up various developmental activities to make Hyderabad one of the best cities in the world. Therefore he suggested that the government should take suggestions from the MIM to fulfill the aspirations of the people who had voted "both the Parties" to power in the GHMC.
