Participating in the inaugural ceremony of the houses that were built under the Double Bedroom housing scheme, at Eravelli and Narasampet villages in Siddipet, Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao today expressed hope that all villages in the State would someday become self-sufficient, self-governed and self-reliant.
With this initiative, the State government has taken the first step in fulfilling the promise made by the TRS in its manifesto.
The Chief Minister said that the two villages in Siddipet were moving in the right direction, and urged other villages in the State to follow suit.
The 600 odd houses were handed over to the beneficiaries by the Chief Minister at a mass house warming ceremony. While 330 houses were completed and handed over to the beneficiaries in Erravalli, 159 houses were completed and handed over to the beneficiaries in Narsampet.
Addressing a gathering on the occasion he said, "People who refused to move an inch from their lands have sacrificed hundreds of square-yards to make the Double Bedroom scheme a success. They have sacrificed their piece of land for the benefit of others. But this is only a small step forward. More houses are required. Also, there are some leftover works to be completed. I once again thank people from Eravelli and Narsampet villages and their representatives for helping us achieve the goal," the Chief Minister said.
He also said that both Eravelli and Narsampet had been declared cashless societies. He recalled that under the leadership of Minister T Harish Rao, Ibrahimpur (also Siddipet), was declared as the first cashless village in the State. Taking inspiration from Ibrahimpur, Eravelli and Narsampet villages, too, became cash-free, he added.
"The cashless model shall extend to all villages in the State, and Telangana shall soon become the first State with 100% cashless transactions. I urge people to make this experiment a success. The two villages are on the path to become model villages. They will become self-governed, self-sufficient and self-reliant in all aspects. These villages will not dependent on anyone. People in these villages shall help make these villages a training ground for achieving the dream of Bangaru Telangana. There is a lot of awareness among the people now."
Ministers T Harish Rao and A Indrakaran Reddy, Deputy Speaker P Devender Reddy, Zilla Parishad chairperson Rajamani Murali Yadav, MPs K Prabhakar Reddy and P Srinivas Reddy, Principal Secretary (Housing) Chitra Ramachandran, District Collector Venkatram Reddy, Joint Collector Hanumanth Rao and others participated in the occasion.
