The curfew in Vizianagaram was eased for an hour on Tuesday morning after normalcy began to return to the violence-hit town.
People were seen coming out of their houses, to buy essentials, in between 7am and 8am, as large numbers of security personnel kept a strict vigil across town. Heavy rush was seen at petrol bunks, ATMs, kirana stores, vegetable stalls and milk shops.
The authorities said that more relaxation would be given if the situation continues to remain normal.
The curfew was imposed in the town after the Samaikyandhra protest turned violent on Saturday. The protestors specifically targeted the properties of Pradesh Congress Committee president Botsa Satyanarayana and his relatives.
Although a few protestors came out on the streets defying the curfew and shoot-at-sight orders, the overall situation remained peaceful since Monday. So far, as many as 110 people, who involved in violent incidents, have been arrested. Special teams have been formed to identify and arrest others involved in violent acts. (INN)
