The YSRCP says that the Seemandhra bandh organized in protest against the cabinet nod to AP's division was total.
The Seemandhra bandh in protest against the cabinet nod to the division of the state was total, according to the YSR Congress. The party has questioned why TDP president N Chandrababu Naidu has distanced himself from opposing the division.
"In all the 13 Seemandhra districts, the bandh has been a big success, with people voluntarily participating in various forms of protests against Delhi's arrogance and expressing solidarity with Y S Jaganmohan Reddy, who has been sole leader to fight for the cause of a united state," party spokespersons Jupudi Prabhakar Rao and Vasireddy Padma told reporters on Friday.
"The bandh has been successful, as people of the region have full faith in Y S Jaganmohan Reddy and the way he is trying his best to stop the division," they said.
"While Y S Jaganmohan Reddy is leaving no stone unturned to keep the state united, and is going round the country meeting leaders of national and regional parties to stall the undemocratic division, TDP leader N Chandrababu Naidu, failed to react on such a crucial issue that has seen a wave of protests sweeping across the Seemandhra region.
"He has lost control over his party, as lower-rung leaders have given a bandh call instead of the party president. While the TDP's house is in utter chaos and dismay, some of the party leaders, along with some Congress leaders, are passing uncharitable remarks against Y S Jaganmohan Reddy, which is not acceptable.
"It is Y S Jaganmohan Reddy who is keeping the united state flag afloat and is prepared to fight the battle till the last post, unlike the union ministers and Congress MPs from the state who are speaking in multiple voices and are issuing incoherent statements besides targeting our leader," they said.
"If Congress leaders from the state are concerned about the division, they should quit the party and join the struggle for a united state. There is no clarity, and the stand of MPs and union ministers is chaotic. It they are hurt by the division, they should condemn the Cabinet decision, quit the party and join the agitation, instead of resorting to gimmickry and targeting Y S Jaganmohan Reddy.
"Lagadapati Rajagopal, in particular, has been very incoherent in his statements. Remarks that the Congress has deceived them to favour Y S Jaganmohan Reddy will have no takers. If he feels deceived, he should quit the Congress instead of indirectly supporting TDP," they said.
"If the Vijayawada MP and others feel that they are orphaned by the painful division, they should come out of the party first, which will only lead to the collapse of the government. This is the only way to show that they are in favour of keeping the state united. All other talk is just gimmickry," they said.
According to the spokespersons, Jagan has also discussed the consequences of the Brijesh Kumar Tribunal verdict with party senior leaders, and is "exploring legal options".
"The Tribunal has done undue favour to the upper riparian states, and has left Andhra Pradesh in the lurch. That this needs to be challenged in the Supreme Court has been the party's contention," they said. (INN)
