The curfew in the trouble-hit area of Vizianagaram town was lifted during the day time, on Monday, as the situation slowly started returning to normalcy.
The decision to relax the curfew from 6am to 10pm was taken following an improvement in the situation. The authorities say that they might consider lifting the curfew completely, if the situation continues to remain normal for the next few days.
However, the authorities said that for now, Section 144 would be in force during the day time.
It may be mentioned that curfew was imposed in Vizianagaram town on October 5 following violent protests against the Centre's decision to bifurcate Andhra Pradesh to carve out Telangana state. Besides resorting to arson and looting at a few places, the protestors targeted the properties of PCC president Botsa Satyanarayana.
More than 300 people have been taken into custody for violence, and the process of identification of others involved in the violence is still on. (INN)
