The Andhra Pradesh Secretariat Seemandhra Employees Forum will conduct a Maha Dharna at Jantar Mantar in New Delhi on September 26 and 27.
According to the forum's convenor, T Venkata Subbaiah, the Maha Dharna, titled "Save Andhra Pradesh", is being organised to protest against the Congress-led UPA government's proposal to bifurcate the state to carve out a Telangana state.
He said that a candle-light rally will also be taken out from Andhra Pradesh Bhavan to India Gate junction. He said that all political parties have been invited to participate in the Maha Dharna.
Subbaiah complained that the Centre, on July 30, had abruptly declared the bifurcation of Andhra Pradesh without any specific modalities for the division. "This will lead to irreparable loss to the employees of Secretariat, hailing from the Andhra-Rayalaseema regions. Their service conditions, financial status, rights and their family life will be hampered, and they will be put in the doldrums. Certain concerns will also arise in the Telangana region in future," he said. (INN)
