AICC Secretary and MLC Ponguleti Sudhakar Reddy on Thursday claimed that Congress president Sonia Gandhi took the decision of formation of Telangana in the interest of Telugu people.
Talking to reporters here, Sudhakar Reddy said that by giving 2 states to Telugu speaking people, Sonia Gandhi wants the people of this state to prosper.
He said that the presence of 2 states will ensure the development of all regions in general, and the Telugu people in particular.
He added that though the language is same, the Telangana and Seemandhra people are "culturally different".
He condemned TDP president N Chandrababu Naidu for criticising Sonia Gandhi for taking a favourable decision on Telangana.
Sudhakar Reddy also said that Bhadrachalam will remain a part of Telangana state.
"Bhadrachalam is the heart of Telangana, and any move to merge the same with Seemandhra would be opposed at all levels," he stated.
Ponguleti also said that Bhadrachalam would be made a national issue if any change is made in its status. (INN)
