Putting an end to all the speculations about Sabitha Indra Reddy's and Dharmana Prasad Rao's continued presence in the State Cabinet, Governor E S L Narasimhan, on Sunday, accepted the resignations of the two ministers.
While Sabitha Reddy was named, in the CBI chargesheet, an accused in the Dalmia Cements fraud, Dharmana Prasada Rao was accused of being involved in the VANPIC scam (related to the Jagan Disproportionate Assets case).
Although Dharmana Rao had submitted a letter of resignation to the CM N Kiran Kumar Reddy after charges against him had surfaced last year, his resignation was not accepted by the Cabinet.
On April 8, 2013, the CBI named Sabitha Indira Reddy as an accused in its fifth chargesheet.
Following an intervention by the Congress High Command, both the ministers were asked to resign on May 19. Both
met the Chief Minister and submitted their letters of resignation, which, the Governor accepted on Sunday. (INN)
