The Telangana government has given a big boost to the farmers in the state ahead of the kharif season beginning in a few days.
The government is preparing to disburse about Rs 7,300 crore in all to the farmers in about two weeks under its flagship Rythu Bandhu program, with officials being instructed to disburse Rs 5,000 an acre to eligible farmers by the third week of June.
The Chief Minister had said after a cabinet meeting yesterday that despite the revenue loss to the government due to the coronavirus pandemic and the lockdown, it would continue the popular scheme for the farmers, and is coming through.
The Rythu Bandhu program provides Rs 5,000 an acre twice a year to farmers, and as many as 61 lakh farmers benefit from it.
