BRS working president K T Rama Rao today said that that while former CM K Chandrashekar Rao gave the Rythu Bandhu benefit when the farmers started their sowing operations, current CM Revanth Reddy gave the money when there were elections in the State, when it was pretty much pointless.
KTR was participating in the graduates' MLC seat by-election campaigning in Illandu constituency, in support of the BRS candidate Enugula Rakesh Reddy.
Speaking on the occasion, he said that there was a marked change in Telangana in every village, town and district headquarters during the BRS regime. "Agriculture was good during the BRS regime. In 2014, Telangana ranked 14th in agricultural production. By 2023, it surpassed Haryana and Punjab as the top producer of agricultural output, especially paddy. KCR introduced the Rythu Bandhu scheme to give confidence to the farming families. During KCR's tenure, Rythu Bandhu was given when sowing was done. But in the Revanth Reddy?s government, it is given at the time of casting of votes and when the harvest is reaped," he said.
He also pointed out that CM Revanth Reddy had promised that he would waive off farmers' loans of upto Rs 2 lakh on December 9 if given a chance. "June 9th will come now. Six months have passed. But the loans have not yet been waived off. If you want to wipe out the Congress government for not implementing its promises, Rakesh Reddy should win. In the Assembly elections, the BRS won 39 seats across the State. We lost by a margin of 1.8% of the votes. We lost 15 seats by margins of less than 5,000 votes. Even if 7 to 10 of these 15 seats were won by us, our government would have come. We are quite close to coming back," he said.
