The Telangana government on Monday started crediting money to the bank accounts of farmers under the Rythu Bandhu scheme.
On the first day, a total of Rs 642.52 crore were credited into the accounts of 22,55,081 farmers across the State.
The State government gives Rs 5,000 per acre to farmers as investment support for every crop season under the Rythu Bandhu scheme. On the first day today, farmers holding under one acre of land got the investment support.
The established practice is to first deposit money into the bank accounts of farmers with one acre or less, followed by those of farmers with larger areas of land, in a phased manner.
Meanwhile, Minister for Agriculture Singireddy Niranjan Reddy and Finance Minister T Harish Rao thanked Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao on behalf of the farmers for extending his support to the farmers' community, and said that lakhs of farmers were benefiting under the scheme.
