Roja's Suspension: SC Declines To Interfere
The apex court said it could not interfere in the case against the suspension of the MLA from the Andhra Pradesh Assembly since it was pending in the High Court.
The Supreme Court today started hearing the case against the suspension of YSR Congress Party MLA Roja from the Andhra Pradesh Assembly for a year.
Roja had filed a petition challenging the verdict of the division bench of the Hyderabad High Court on her suspension.
The apex court said that it could not interfere since the case was pending in the High Court. The court asked Roja's counsel to take up the case in the High Court itself.
Roja's counsel submitted to the Supreme Court that she had already tendered an apology, even in writing. But the Andhra Pradesh government pleader contended that the government had not received any letter from Roja. The apex court then asked Roja's counsel to provide a copy of that letter. On this, the letter was handed over to the government pleader.
The apex court asked the government lawyer to send the letter to concerned department and officials, and said that it would take up the matter only after the disposal of the case in the High Court.
