A key development has taken place in Telangana politics, with Assembly Speaker Gaddam Prasad issuing notices to BRS MLAs accused of defecting from their party.
In line with directives from the Supreme Court, Prasad moved to notify the defectors, reportedly after consultations with legal experts.
On Friday, notices were sent to five of the ten MLAs who switched allegiance, with reports suggesting that notices may be issued to others as well.
Among those that the Speaker has sent notices to is Bandla Krishnamohan Reddy, the MLA for Gadwal, over his alleged association with the Congress after being elected on a BRS ticket. He has been asked to promptly respond to the complaints raised by the BRS.
Reacting to the notice, Krishnamohan Reddy said that he would respond shortly. He said that he had not switched parties or joined the Congress. He explained that his meeting with Chief Minister Revanth Reddy was merely a courtesy call to discuss developmental issues concerning the Gadwal constituency, and that he continued to remain a member of the BRS.
Considerable anticipation now surrounds how the defected MLAs will respond to the notices, reigniting political interest in the State. The crucial questions are whether the leaders will return to the BRS or choose to resign from their posts. The outcome remains uncertain.
