The Telugu Desam Party on Sunday came down heavily on the reported statement of Jagan, in which he compared his late father and former chief minister Y S Rajasekhara Reddy to Mahatma Gandhi, and demanded the source of funds being spent on the ongoing Odarpu Yatra.
Talking to reporters at his residence, TDP president N Chandrababu Naidu said that his party had raised the issue of corruption which allegedly took place under the rule of the former chief minister and had even brought out a booklet 'Raja Of Corruption', in which it had listed the alleged 'corrupt' deals he had entered.
Naidu said that the TDP had presented this booklet to all the important central leaders of the Congress party.
The TDP chief expressed his dismay that the same person who had been accused of large-scale corrupt practices during his lifetime is now being compared to Gandhi.
The TDP chief demanded that Jagan should explain the huge amount of money being spent on conducting the Odarpu Yatra. He alleged that a massive amount of money is being spent by the young MP during the yatra on his supporters, and that the large crowds who are thronging around Jagan.
Accusing the government of taking the state backwards due to the its mishandling, Naidu said that students and farmers were suffering under Congress rule.
He said the government has failed on all fronts and has not kept any of the promises it had made before the 2009 elections.
The TDP chief said that his government had taken the state on the path of progress in a planned manner under the Vision2020 plan.
Naidu said that the internal 'squabbling' in the ruling Congress party has led to the increase in the suffering of the common man. He said that the government has forgotten the common man while trying to save itself from falling.
