Braving protests from TRS and BJP, TDP leader N Chandrababu Naidu said today that it is for the Congress to make its stand on Telangana clear.
Addressing a roadside meeting, Naidu said that TDP cannot take sides, as any categorical statement would hurt the sentiments of the other region. "We are not against Telangana but the decision should be taken by Congress which is dilly-dallying on the issue," he said, adding that TDP has a base in regions and he needs to safeguard interests of all regions.
TRS and BJP members raised slogans and placards in protest against the padayatra.
Though Congress aligned with TRS in 2004 elections, it did not honour the promise on Telangana, and has been trying to draw political mileage from the issue, said Naidu.
The all-party meeting, he alleged, was convened by the Congress only to please Telangana MPs whose support was a must for the voting on the FDI bill.
TRS has been playing foul by whipping regional passions and trying to create law-and-order issues, and every leader has the right to tour any region in the state or country, he accused.
Alleging that TRS president K Chandrashekhar Rao was concerned about securing power for his family members, he said that Mr. Rao had not done anything for the people of Telangana. (INN)
