Chief Minister Revanth Reddy today slammed former chief minister K Chandrashekar Rao for not attending the Assembly despite being the Leader of Opposition. He also termed him "an expired medicine".
In an informal chat with media persons in the Assembly on Thursday, the Chief Minister found fault with KCR for not attending the Assembly session, and said that the BRS leader was unable to digest the loss of power in the recent Assembly elections.
"KCR has skipped the Assembly session as well as the meeting of the Business Advisory Committee (BAC). One can then understand his sincerity and commitment as the Leader of Opposition towards the people," Reddy said.
Responding to the reports that BRS MLA Harish Rao was disallowed from attending the BAC meeting, the Chief Minister said the BRS had given the names of two MLAs - KCR and Kadiyam Srihari - as the ones who would attend the BAC meeting. KCR was absent and Srihari was allowed. The Assembly Speaker would take a decision on whether to allow another MLA to replace KCR, Reddy said.
"But I want KCR to come to the Assembly sessions. He should fulfill his responsibility as the Leader of Opposition," the Chief Minister said.
Responding to the development on the change of the BRSLP office, the Chief Minister said that the decision had been taken solely by the Assembly Speaker.
He also said that the State government was moving ahead on the issues of the TSPSC and the Kaleswaram project following a procedure, and pointed out that even the hanging of terrorist Kasab had happened after due procedure.
The CM further stated that it was the previous BRS government that had handed over the irrigation projects to the Krishna River Management Board (KRMB), and also alleged that even though Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Jaganmohan Reddy occupied the Nagarjuna Sagar project using his police force, KCR didn't take any steps to protect the rights of Telangana.
"Even though 12 TMCs of water were taken to Andhra Pradesh every day, the former chief minister failed to stop the drawing of water from the Krishna river," Reddy said.
He also said that the State government would pass a resolution on the caste census in the ongoing Assembly sessions, and also that the Speaker would extend the sessions of the House if he deemed it necessary.
Responding to the remarks made by YSR Congress MP Vijayasai Reddy who alleged that Congress government in Telangana would be toppled soon, Revanth Reddy said that Vijayasai Reddy was a non-serious politician and that there was no need to pay attention to him.
