TPCC president and MP A Revanth Reddy today lodged a complaint with the Election Commission of India (EC) against the state police.
He lodged the complaint along with a woman named Nirosha.
Reddy submitted his complaint to the Chief Electoral Officer of the state Shashank Goel in Hyderabad.
In his complaint, he alleged that the ruling TRS leaders were misusing their power in the ongoing Huzurabad by-election campaign.
He also alleged that the TRS leaders and the police had attacked Nirosha when she asked the former about jobs in a meeting attended by state finance minister T Harish Rao.
He said that Congress candidate B Venkat Rao was also attacked by TRS leaders for exposing the "failures" of the state government.
Speaking to media persons later, Reddy alleged that Harish Rao and BJP candidate Etela Rajender had violated all kinds of rules in their election campaign, and that the duo had turned the Huzurabad by-election into the most expensive by-election in the entire country.
Commenting on the halting of the Dalit Bandhu scheme by the EC, he claimed that both the TRS and the BJP had ensured the suspension of the scheme.
He urged the people of the Huzurabad constituency to vote for the Congress candidate.
