BRS leaders today lodged a complaint with DGP Jitender over attacks on their party leaders and workers in the State.
Among those who met the DGP were BRS leaders Vemula Prashanth Reddy, Jagadish Reddy, Padi Kaushik Reddy, Sanjay Kumar, Vivekananda Goud and R S Praveen Kumar.
Speaking to mediapersons later, Jagadish Reddy alleged that some BRS MLAs were being attacked right in front of the police, and that the Congress "goons" were resorting to attacks.
"The police are silently watching the conspiracies against our party leaders and workers. We have complained to the DGP four times so far about the attacks by the Congress goons. However, no action has been taken against those who have attacked us so far," he alleged.
He said that BRS MLA Padi Kaushik Reddy's house was attacked after he (Kaushik Reddy) challenged defecting BRS MLA Arikepudi Gandhi, and that the police did not take any action against Gandhi despite him publicly storming Kaushik Reddy's house with his followers and Congress workers. He said that actions like this were leading to the image of the police in the State fast deteriorating.
He also lamented that under the Congress rule the people were being forced to witness the abomination of the birthdays of Congress leaders being celebrated in police stations.
Jagadish Reddy accused Chief Minister Revanth Reddy of corrupting the police system and the rest of the society in Telangana. "Revanth Reddy does not know the status of the post of the Chief Minister. His words will disturb the peace and security in the State. However, there is no question of our being afraid of the threats of the CM," he said.
"We request the DGP to protect the future of the police department and the dignity of the State," he added.
