CM Expresses Shock Over Ahmedabad Plane Crash
Of the 242 on board, 241 died, including ex-Gujarat CM Vijay Rupani. 24 civilians on the ground also perished, and over 60 were injured.

Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy today expressed profound shock and sorrow following the tragic crash of Air India Flight AI 171, a Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner, which occurred shortly after take-off from Ahmedabad en route to London Gatwick.
Reddy took to X to offer prayers for the victims and survivors, and wrote he was "deeply shocked and heartbroken".
He urged the Union government to undertake swift and effective relief measures to support the grieving families and the injured.
Alongside him, other political leaders including AP CM Chandrababu Naidu and Union minister Kishan Reddy expressed shock and called for immediate assistance.
The aircraft crashed into the Meghani Nagar neighbourhood shortly after taking off, striking the hostel of B J Medical College and causing extensive ground casualties, too.
According to initial reports, the flight carried 230 passengers and 12 crew members, totalling 242 individuals: 169 Indian, 53 British, seven Portuguese and one Canadian.
241 of the 242 people on board have been confirmed dead. At least 24 civilians on the ground also perished. Over 60 others sustained injuries. Among those killed was former Gujarat Chief Minister Vijay Rupani.
Miraculously, one British-Indian passenger, Vishwash Kumar Ramesh (seat 11A), survived and is currently hospitalised.
