BRS MLAs today raised concerns over the government's failure to secure the Rs 1 crore ex-gratia promised to the families of the victims of the Sigachi blast.
Sangareddy MLA Chintha Prabhakar, Zaheerabad MLA K Manik Rao and other BRS leaders submitted a memorandum to Collector P Pravinya and Superintendent of Police Paritosh Pankaj separately in Sangareddy, urging the prompt disbursement of the pending ex-gratia funds.
In their statement, the BRS MLAs said that Chief Minister Revanth Reddy had committed to providing Rs 1 crore as ex-gratia to each affected family. However, even five months after the tragic incident, the management had distributed only Rs 25 lakh to each family, and the families had yet to receive the Rs 2 lakh ex-gratia promised by the Central government, Prabhakar said.
The BRS MLA criticised the State government and its officials for their lack of attention, and called for the immediate release of the remaining ex-gratia payments.
Manik Rao added that the BRS would continue to advocate for justice until the full ex-gratia was released.
