Revanth Reddy Accuses BRS Of Rs 8.21 Lakh Crore Debt

Speaking from the historic Golconda Fort during the 79th Independence Day celebrations, Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy today said that the previous BRS regime had saddled Telangana with escalating debts and outstanding dues totalling Rs 8,21,652 crore when the Congress government took office.

"Of this, Rs 6.71 lakh crore is debt, while Rs 40,153 crore is owed towards employee payments and other schemes. Another Rs 1,09,740 crore is due under the SC/ST sub-plan, Singareni, and electricity and other departments. In the past 20 months, the Congress government has repaid Rs 2.20 lakh crore, including Rs 1.32 lakh crore in principal and Rs 88,178 crore in interest," Reddy said.

He also said that despite the financial strain, the State government was determined to move Telangana from "zero to the top", drawing inspiration from Mahatma Gandhi, the father of the nation, and Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru, "the builder of modern India", along with the support of the people.

"I firmly believe that where there is a will, there is a way. We have the will, and we have the vision. Telangana Rising 2047 is our vision, and this government's mission is to make it a reality. Our aim is to place Telangana at the top on the world stage with people's support and unwavering courage. We will not rest until that goal is achieved," he added.
