The ruling Congress today suffered a shock.
BRS MLA Bandla Krishna Mohan Reddy, who had recently joined the Congress, returned to the BRS.
In the 2023 Assembly elections, Reddy had contested from the Gadwal Assembly constituency on a BRS ticket and won. However, 20 days back he quit the BRS and joined the Congress, in the presence of Chief Minister Revanth Reddy and State ministers Jupally Krishna Rao, Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy and others. But the defection didn't last even a month, and he rejoined the BRS today. He met BRS working president K T Rama Rao and said that he would continue in the party. Former ministers Gangula Kamalakar, Jagadish Reddy, Padma Rao Goud, Talasani Srinivas Yadav and others were present when the Gadwal MLA met KTR.
Krishna Mohan Reddy had won by a margin of over 7,000 votes over the Congress candidate Sarita Thirupathaiah in the last Assembly elections.
So far, 10 MLAs have left the BRS and joined the Congress, and the Congress has been saying that some more BRS MLAs would join it. The decision of Krishna Mohan Reddy has given hope to the BRS cadres that there will be a reversal of trend.
