Raja Singh Asks KCR To Remove Sania Mirza As Brand Ambassado

The controversial BJP leader and Goshamahal MLA made the demand as Sania Mirza was "the daughter-in-law of Pakistan".
Hyderabad | 18th February 2019
Controversial BJP leader and Goshamahal MLA Raja Singh today made some remarks against tennis star and the brand ambassador of Telangana, Sania Mirza.

Singh demanded that the Telangana government withdraw the brand ambassador status of Sania Mirza as she was "the daughter-in-law of Pakistan".

Mirza is married to Pakistani cricketer Shoaib Malik.

Singh released a video making his demand to the Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao. In his message, the BJP MLA asked the Telangana CM how he could let the daughter-in-law of Pakistan continue as the brand ambassador of Telangana even after the attack on CRPF soldiers on February 14.

Claiming that the union government had already withdrawn all kinds of support to Pakistan after the attack, Singh demanded that the Chief Minister too remove Sania Mirza from the brand ambassador position.

He said that KCR should appoint other female sports stars from Hyderabad like Saina Nehwal and P V Sindhu as brand ambassadors of the state in place of Mirza.

While Sania Mirza made a lengthy post on Twitter slamming people who expected her as a celebrity to condemn the attack, she notably did not use the word Pakistan anywhere in it.
