Qutubullapur MLA Koona Srisailam Goud on Wednesday announced his resignation from the YSR Congress Party over the Telangana issue.
Goud said that the YSR Congress Party had done a volte face on its stand on the Telangana demand.
Although it supported statehood for the region in its plenary session, it switched its stand and proved itself to be a Seemandhra party when all its MLAs resigned from their post after Centre took a favourable stand on Telangana.
Therefore, he said that he has decided to resign from the YSRCP.
Goud was elected as an independent MLA in the 2009 elections. After being presuaded by former Chief Minister late Dr. Y S Rajasekhara Reddy, he became an associate member of the Congress party. Recently, he met Y S Jaganmohan Reddy in the Chanchalguda jail and joined the YSRCP. (INN)
