Malladi Vishnu, YSRCP in-charge for the Vijayawada Central constituency and former MLA, alleged today that the coalition government and Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu showed little respect for the Brahmin community in Andhra Pradesh.
Vishnu claimed that Naidu had promised to accommodate Brahmins on the devasthanam boards, but that during today's cabinet meeting no Brahmin representatives were nominated to the TTD board.
He said that Naidu boasted many times about the importance his government placed on Brahmins during cabinet meetings and in State government orders, yet failed to provide MLA tickets to leaders from the community in the 2014, 2019 and 2024 Assembly elections.
In response to the Endowments Commissioner's announcement that 600 Vedic scholars were being awarded scholarships of Rs 3,000 each, Vishnu said, "A resolution was made on this issue, and funds were released, by the YSRCP government. Now there is no place for Brahmins; it has been announced that the scholarships are being diverted."
