Kicking off the President's annual Southern sojourn in winter, President Ram Nath Kovind today landed in Hyderabad from Delhi.
He touched down at the Hakimpet airport as the beginning of his tour of the South, which is scheduled from December 20 to 28.
Governor Tamilisai Soundararajan, Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao, cabinet ministers, MPs, MLAs and MLCs welcomed the President.
Kovind then went to Rashtrapathi Nilayam at Bollaram in Secunderabad.
The Governor will host a dinner for the President at Raj Bhavan on December 22. On the same day, the President will launch a mobile app of the Indian Red Cross Society, Telangana unit, at Raj Bhavan.
The President will leave for a visit to Chennai, Puducherry and Thiruvanathapuram on December 23. He will also visit the Vivekananda Rock Memorial and Vivekananda Kendra in Kanyakumari, and return to the city on the evening of December 26.
The President will then host an "At Home" meet at Rashtrapathi Nilayam on December 27 for dignitaries, ministers, officials, prominent citizens, academics and others.
He will leave for Delhi at 3:15 pm on December 28.
