G Siddharth Reddy, the prime accused in Pratyusha's suicide case, surrendered to the police, on Wednesday.
The court had directed him to surrender to the police by 15 January.
The police moved him to Chanchalguda jail.
Earlier, Siddartha Reddy was sentenced to 6 years' imprisonment, by a Sessions Court.
Challenging the jail sentence, Siddharth Reddy filed a petition in the High Court. The court reduced Siddharth Reddy's jail term of 6 years to 2 years, imposed a fine of Rs. 50,000 on charges of abetment of suicide, and 1 year of imprisonment and a fine of Rs. 1,000 for attempting suicide.
Siddharth and Pratyusha, who were reportedly in love without parental approval, consumed poison and were admitted to a private hospital on 23 February 2002.
Pratyusha died in the hospital, and Siddharth survived. The CBI investigation concluded that Siddharth had driven Pratyusha to commit suicide. (INN)
