Uma Maheswari, the youngest daughter of former Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh late N T Rama Rao, committed suicide in the city.
The Jubilee Hills police confirmed the news of the suicide.
The police said that Uma Maheswari hanged herself from a ceiling fan in her residence.
The police suspect that Uma Maheshwari took to the extreme step as she was suffering from depression and health problems.
The police shifted the body to the Osmania General Hospital for a post mortem.
The body was later handed over to her family members by the doctors of the hospital.
The suicide came to light following a complaint lodged by her daughter Akshita to the police. In her complaint, she said that her mother died due to ill-health.
Maheshwari reportedly locked herself in her room at 12 noon and did not respond when she was called for lunch. Her daughter then called the Jubilee Hills police at around 2:45 pm, and she was eventually found hanging in her room.
Her family members, including her brother Nandamuri Balakrishna, brother-in-law N Chandrababu Naidu and nephew N Lokesh, rushed to the OGH mortuary.
The deceased was the youngest of the 12 children of NTR, and of the four sisters.
