The government is making sincere efforts to resolve the Telangana issue, and will make an announcement by September 29, says former minister Dr P Shankar Rao.
Telangana Rashtra Samithi deputy floor leader T Harish Rao on Sunday slammed the State Government for increasing the electricity surcharge on power consumers across the State.
Addressing a press conference at Telangana Bhavan here, Harish Rao said that the State Government appears to have given up efforts to resolve the energy crisis in the State. Instead, he said the government was further burdening the consumers by increasing the surcharge. While rural areas are witnessing power cuts of about 18 hours every day, the cities, including the State capital, are having power cuts for about eight hours, he said.
Raising suspicion over the prolongment of energy crisis, the TRS leader demanded an enquiry by the Central Bureau of Investigation into the issue, especially the power purchase deals with the Lanco Power and GMR Power. (INN)
