All India Congress Committee (AICC) secretary and MLC Ponguleti Sudhakar Reddy stated on Monday that Telugu Desam leader Devender Goud had no moral right to criticize Telangana Congress Leaders Forum members who are disbursing financial assistance to kin of victims who laid down their lives for the cause of Telangana.
Talking to media persons at the CLP office, Ponguleti asked Devender Goud to clarify his party's stand on the Telangana statehood issue before commenting on the Congress' activities.
Reddy pointed out that the TDP had lost its base at the grassroots level since it had divergent views on Telangana, and advised Goud to set his house in order before making comments on other party members.
Reacting to the TDP Telangana Forum leaders' proposal to stage a dharna in front of Congress president Sonia Gandhi's residence in New Delhi on Oct 25th asking to accept a memorandum favouring a separate Telangana, Ponguleti stated that the TDP leaders should stage a dharna in front of their leader N Chandrababu Naidu's residence seeking a clear stand on the issue.
Reddy asked the TDP leaders to stop targeting Congress leaders, and warned of serious consequences if this was not done.
Reddy alleged that in order to survive in politics, the TDP leader was resorting to a malicious campaign against Congress leaders, but the people of the State were not in a position to believe in the TDP's cheap gimmicks.
The Congress leader recalled the statements of former chief minister and TDP founder NT Rama Rao in which he called Naidu a backstabber.
Reddy stated that the Congress need not learn lessons from such a backstabber.
