Telangana Chief Secretary Somesh Kumar today held a meeting with officials of the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) and the GHMC at BRKR Bhavan and directed them to take up an extensive plantation drive on the stretch between Aramgarh and the airport road, on the PVNR Expressway.
He directed the GHMC officials to take up Multicolour/Multilayer Avenue Plantation (MLAP) on either side of the road. The officials were asked to ensure that both sides of the road be dotted with flowering plants to allow the travellers commuting along the stretch to enjoy the lush greenery of the area.
Earlier, Kumar planted saplings at an event organised as part of the state's ongoing Haritha Haram program and inspected the MLAP drive taken up by the GHMC at Budvel, on the main road leading to the Shamshabad International Airport.
Special Chief Secretary (Transportation, Roads & Buildings) Sunil Sharma, GHMC Commissioner Lokesh Kumar, Secretary (PR & RD) Sandeep Kumar Sultania, Secretary (Health and Family Welfare) Syed Ali Murtuza Rizvi, Engineer-in-Chief Ganapathi Reddy, officials of the roads and buildings department and the NHAI, and Regional Officer (Union Ministry of Roads and Transport) S K Khushwa were among those officials present at the meeting.
Under the programs being organised as part of the seventh phase of the state's Haritha Haram and Pattana Pragathi programs, the TRS regime has been busying itself with a number of re-greening projects in order to increase the green cover in Telangana.

inaugurated the Pedda Amberpet Kalan urban forest, located in Rangareddy district's Hayathnagar mandal, along with Forest and Environment Minister Indrakaran Reddy and Education Minister Sabitha Indra Reddy.
