The Anti-Corruption Bureau officials on Tuesday trapped the Executive Officer of Sri Peddamma Temple, Jubilee Hills, while allegedly accepting a bribe.
According to ACB sources, the EO Saikam Anji Reddy had demanded a bribe of Rs 4 lakh from a priest named Prayaga Anjaneya Sarma to reinstate him as a priest (Sarma had been fired in June 2017 by the EO of that time for allegedly stealing from temple donations). Upon that, Sarma went to the ACB officials and complained. The ACB officials then laid a trap and caught Reddy red-handed accepting the bribe - Reddy was paid Rs 1 lakh by Sarma as the first installment of the bribe.
Reddy was produced before the judge of the special ACB court, and will be in judicial remand.
