A case of Disproportionate Assets (DA) was registered today against Assistant Executive Engineer (AEE) Herur Nikesh Kumar of the Irrigation Department, Hyderabad, for allegedly acquiring assets disproportionate to his known sources of income through unlawful practices during his service.
Searches were conducted at the residence of Kumar and in 19 other locations associated with him and his relatives. During the searches, property documents for five house plots, 6.5 acres of agricultural land, six flats and two commercial spaces were discovered.
The searches revealed that Kumar had acquired movable and immovable properties worth Rs 17,73,53,500. The market value is expected to be significantly higher than that official valuation.
Earlier, too, on May 30, 2024, Nikesh was caught red-handed by the ACB while accepting a bribe of Rs 1,00,000 from a complainant for issuing a No Objection Certificate (NOC) for the construction of a building.
